Stuck On You…

There was a time when joining a fan club felt like joining a secret society. Long before social media or official merch drops, you showed your loyalty with a small badge pinned proudly to your lapel. These early fan club badges are a fascinating corner of collecting, full of nostalgia, pop history, and occasionally, surprises.

Many performers had official fan clubs, and membership often included a badge. Most collectors focus on their favourite artist, but there is a growing interest in the wider world of early pop fandom. These examples include Frankie Avalon, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Tommy Steele, the Everly Brothers and others whose names once filled jukeboxes and teenage bedrooms. Some remain legends. Others slipped into quieter chapters of music history. That shift, though, can be where the collecting opportunity appears.

Then there are the badges that capture an era. The Fonz, for example. A cultural icon in the 1970s, now a warm memory of leather jackets and jukebox cool.

Elvis, of course, remains in a category all of his own. Fan clubs still run, Graceland still welcomes visitors, and the number of souvenir badges keeps growing. Spotting the original pieces from his lifetime adds both challenge and reward. Some early tin badges can now reach significant prices, while later 1960s examples remain surprisingly accessible.

Small objects, perhaps, but backed by big stories.
